It's so hard to believe that after almost 2 years of planning for this adventure that it's finally come to an end..
Some say that it's not about the journey, it's about the destination.. However if there's one thing that I've learned in the last 12 days, it's without the journey you can't appreciate the destination. There is so much of this beautiful country that goes unseen and taken for granted. To see what "progress" has done to these little towns along the way is heartbreaking. There are a lot of people out there who are doing everything they can to help preserve Route 66 history. Three of them I got to know during this trip and want to thank. Dan Rice and Ian Bowen from 66-to-Cali at the Pier in Santa Monica. Thank you Dan for all the time you took to educate me on Route 66! And Angel Delgadillo at his barber shop in Seligman Arizona, I only got to spend about an Hour talking with him and in that time he told me more about Route 66 then I could have imagined. Thank you Angel! There is one more person that I want to thank for making this adventure possible, that's my copilot and best friend, my wife Chris. Without her support and patience through the build of the car and planning, the trip couldn't have been done, I love you.. Lastly I'd like to say Thank you to all of the great people I've got to meet and talk to along the way, I can honestly say that everyone was friendly and pleasure to talk with!

Thanks to everyone that has followed us on our Once In A Lifetime Adventure!
Well said. Congrats to a good build of car. How well did the paint hold up? Stop in down here at API when you get rested up and let me know.
ReplyDeletePaint held perfectly, some minor road rash that needs touched up, but that's to be expected.
ReplyDeleteNow you can start planning your trip across the US on the Lincoln Highway! 😉
ReplyDeleteThanks for writing this blog and including all of the photos. We are hoping to make a similar trip in 2019 in our 1965 Mustang Coupe. Your blog has provided some inspiration to actually make the journey.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on what must be on every car enthusiasts bucket list! I'm restoring a '66 Tbird and hope to the same someday.
ReplyDeleteMy father in law wants to make this trip in 2020... We're going to try in a couple old cars, and your story is inspiring... Thanks for sharing...
